A family photographer in Cambridge, Ontario
Fine art family, motherhood and couples photographs, made in the parks and meadows of Cambridge. From $175.
Cambridge is where I live, and it's where most of my favourite sessions have happened. The old trees in Galt, the meadows along the Grand, the long evenings when the light comes in low across a lawn and everything goes green and gold.
I trained as an oil painter before I picked up a camera seriously. I photograph families the way I'd paint them: soft natural light, quiet colour, and real moments rather than rows of people saying cheese.
Sessions made in Cambridge
A motherhood session in Dickson Park. Alina and her son Timofii, an hour before sunset, on the big lawns behind the Dickson Centre in Galt. He took his first wobbly steps holding her fingers. It's still one of my favourite galleries.

A family session in a meadow outside Cambridge. Roman, Olia and Evan, who was turning two. They hung a hand-lettered banner between two poplars in a natural reserve just south of the city, and Evan spent the hour running away from it.

An engagement session off the Grand Trunk Trail. Ella and Caleb, newly engaged, in a meadow full of goldenrod beside the Grand River on the first really golden evening of the fall.

Where I photograph in Cambridge
These are the places I know well and come back to:
- Dickson Park, Galt. Wide, flat, soft lawns and mature trees. The best place in the city for babies and toddlers who've just found their feet. My Dickson Park guide has the details.
- Victoria Park, West Galt. A cricket ground and lawns beside a piece of real forest. At sunset the light comes through the trees from behind, which is my favourite light for small children. My Victoria Park guide has the details.
- The meadows along the Grand Trunk Trail. Tall grass and wildflowers backed by a line of trees, lit from behind at sunset. Best in late summer and early fall.
- A natural reserve just south of the city. Long meadow, old woodland and a treeline that holds the sun late. The gates close at dusk, so we time it carefully.
- The Grand River in Galt. Stone, water and old buildings, for families who want a bit more texture than a park.
If you have a place that means something to you, a garden, a grandparent's farm, your own backyard, I'm happy to come there instead. My full list of family photo locations covers Kitchener, Waterloo and the surrounding area too.
What a session includes
There are three options, and they're the same for every kind of session:
| Time | Finished images | Price | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mini Session | 30 minutes, one location | 15–20 | $175 |
| The Hour | 1 hour, one location | 30–40 | $300 |
| The Long Session | 2 hours, two locations or an outfit change | 60–70 | $550 |
Every session includes help choosing the location and the timing, wardrobe help (send me photos of your options), hand editing of every image in colour and black and white, a private online gallery, and a full print release. No tax is added and there's nothing to buy afterwards unless you want prints.
Travel anywhere in Cambridge is included: Galt, Preston, Hespeler, Blair and everywhere between. More on the pricing page.
How booking works
- Send me a note through the contact form or on Instagram. Tell me who's coming, what kind of session you're thinking about, and roughly when.
- We pick a spot and an evening. I'll suggest a place and a time based on the light that week. I watch the forecast and choose session days early in the week.
- A $100 deposit holds your date. It comes off the total. The balance is due before your gallery is delivered.
- Your gallery arrives within two to three weeks, ready to download, print and share.
If the weather turns, we reschedule for free, as many times as the sky demands. With small children, illness happens too, and that's free to reschedule as well.

Frequently asked questions
Do you charge extra for travel within Cambridge? No. Travel is included anywhere within about an hour of Kitchener-Waterloo, and all of Cambridge is well inside that.
What are the best places for family photos in Cambridge? For small children, Dickson Park in Galt: flat, soft and open, with great evening light. For a wilder look, the meadows along the Grand Trunk Trail in late summer and early fall. I'll suggest the best fit for your family and the season.
Do I need a permit for photos in a Cambridge park? Not for a small family or couples session, as far as I've found. City permits are aimed at filming and events that affect traffic, parking or public space. I check before each session.
What's the best time of year for family photos in Cambridge? Late May to mid-October, in the last hour before sunset. My golden hour guide has the times for every month.
Can you photograph us at home in Cambridge? Yes. In-home sessions work beautifully in winter, by a big window. Ask me about it when you get in touch.
